One Piece Fan Letter is an animated adaptation of Straw Hat Stories, a collection of short stories by Tomohito Osaki. It takes place two years after the Paramount War -- which resulted in the shocking death of Monkey D. Luffy's brother, Portgas D. Ace -- when the Straw Hat Pirates are on the verge of reuniting at Sabaody Archipelago. A young admirer of Nami is eager to deliver a fan letter to her before the Straw Hat Pirates reunite and depart, unaware of the larger-than-life role that she and the everyday residents of Sabaody Archipelago will play in saving the Straw Hats from a secret weapon by the Marines.

One Piece Fan Letter not only celebrates the anime and the One Piece fandom but also serves as a transition into the re-edited release of "Fish-Man Island." While the "Egghead" story arc goes on hiatus after nearly catching up with the One Piece manga, Toei Animation will release a remake version of the "Fish-Man Island" arc that features updated animation that's on par with the cinematic experience seen in recent One Piece episodes, as well as Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen and Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. The One Piece manga will also enter a two-week break while series creator Eiichiro Oda plans out the "Elbaf" story arc and works on the live-action One Piece series on Netflix.
