Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (2024)

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (1)

No plan to Magic Kingdom is complete without a guide to all its rides and attractions.

The 1st of 4 parks to open at Walt Disney World, Magic Kingdom is the promise that Roy O. Disney fulfilled to his brother, Walt Disney. In fact, Roy said himself that “Walt Disney World is a tribute to the philosophy and life of Walter Elias Disney… and to the talents, the dedication, and the loyal to of the entire Disney organization that made Walt Disney’s dream come true.”

Open since 1971, Magic Kingdom is Walt Disney World’s flagship park, with a very similar layout to the original Disney theme park, Disneyland Park. With Cinderella Castle as its park icon, Magic Kingdom has many rides and attractions that borrow from its West Coast sister-park, but also has several that are unique only to Florida. We visit Magic Kingdom weekly, and we love sharing the best information on its rides and attractions for you to have an easy time planning your next vacation to Disney World.

Read on for your ultimate guide to every Magic Kingdom ride and attraction.

Important Details to Know About Rides at Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (3)

Knowing some simple-but-key details about the rides at Magic Kingdom is key to a magical vacation.

A general understanding of each ride's storytelling gives you a good idea of what each ride is about. Additionally, it's important to know what type of guest will enjoy the ride and what type of guest might want to skip it. Next, you'll want to know which rides offer specific access options such as single rider or Disney Genie+ service. And finally, it's extremely important to know each ride's height requirement so you can understand if you and your party can ride together.

The following guide has each of these bits of information to make understanding the rides at Magic Kingdom much easier. On top of that, we've curated onboard ride videos so you can see what you're potentially getting into.

Of course, you can skip the onboard ride videos if you don't want any spoilers!

Before jumping into each ride, let's briefly cover a few ride access options so you have an easier understanding of these terms.

Rider Switch Allows You to Ride Even if Your Kiddos Cannot

The Rider Switch option is popular among families with kiddos who can’t or don’t want to ride a particular ride.

Similar to the Rider Switch option utilized at Disneyland Resort, 1 person stays with the non-rider while the other responsible party (age 14 and up) and accompanying guests (up to 2) enjoy the attraction. Once finished, they can switch riders in order to experience the same attraction without having to wait again in the queue.

Rider Switch is a great way to ensure that everyone who wants to experience a particular ride can do so without worrying about their younger kiddo!

Useful Tools for Reduced Wait Times: Disney Genie+ Service and Individual Lightning Lane

More prevalent across the Disney World theme parks is the Disney Genie+ service and Individual Lightning Lane service – both paid services that allow you to make attraction “reservations” from the My Disney Experience mobile app.

A complete replacement of the FastPass+ service from years past, Disney Genie+ gives guests specific return-times to ride their favorite attractions. On the other hand, the Individual Lightning Lane service, which are separate from Disney Genie+, allows you to purchase reservations for individual rides and attractions.

Both of these tools, when used strategically, can allow you to experience a high number of rides and attractions you otherwise couldn't do on a busy Disney park day.

Virtual Queue System

Disney has utilized the virtual queue system for its newest and most popular attractions instead of a standby queue.

Virtual queues allow for improved crowd control, creating a better guest experience. It also helps cut down on wait times so you can enjoy more rides and attractions during your visit. Note however that if a ride uses a virtual queue, there is no standby queue available for that same ride.

Make sure to check out our guide to virtual queues at Disney World to learn how to successfully use this system.

Magic Kingdom: Rides by Land

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (4)

Magic Kingdom is divided into 6 different themed lands for all its rides.

While most of the themed lands at Magic Kingdom share identical names to most of the themed lands at Disneyland Park in California, there’s 1 exception. Additionally, there’s a number of rides unique to Magic Kingdom, making it a must-visit for Disneyland fans who have never visited Disney World. From the retro-futuristic Tomorrowland to a walk through American History in Liberty Square, Magic Kingdom has rides and attractions that everyone in the family can enjoy.

Let’s go over each themed area and their respective rides and attractions.

Rides at Adventureland

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (5)

Inspired by the remote jungles of Africa, Asia, the Middle East, South America, the South Pacific, and the Caribbean, Adventureland blends together many different architectural styles – and does it really well.

Imagine literally walking through different countries and decades (and I don’t mean World Showcase at EPCOT).

From the Victorian era and the 1920’s to Middle Eastern-style bazaars and colonial-style Spanish forts, Adventureland is home to many classic Magic Kingdom rides.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (6)

Arguably one of the most influential theme park rides ever created, Pirates of the Caribbean shares much of the same storytelling and design from the original ride at Disneyland Park.

Pirates of the Caribbean is a slow flume ride that recounts the story of a pirate raid on a Caribbean island settlement. Guests “that be seeking adventure” will navigate past Pirates Grotto, Dead Man’s Cove, Hurricane Lagoon, a foggy Caribbean fort, and a striking 12-gun galleon. And you’ll definitely get the pirates’ anthem, “Yo Ho, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)” stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

Don’t forget to spot Jack Sparrow throughout the ride, from the movie franchise that was inspired by this very ride!

Skip If: You don’t do well with short drops or dark, enclosed spaces

Access: Disney Genie+

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-RideVideo:via YouTube

Tip: This ride tends to see high wait times mid-day. To have the shortest standby queue time, your best bet is to get in line before noon or after 5:00pm.

Jungle Cruise

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (7)

One of my favorite rides in Magic Kingdom, Jungle Cruise takes you for a high adventure on a scenic and comedic tour of exotic rivers across Asia, Africa, and South America.

Another classic Magic Kingdom attraction that shares much of the same storyline and layout with Disneyland Park, you’ll board a canopied tramp steamer piloted by your trusty Jungle Cruise skipper, who will “expertly navigate you through some of the world’s most treacherous waters.” Full of animatronic angry hippos, hungry lions, “sleeping” zebras, and corny dad-jokes, you’re bound to learn a thing or two – and laugh a lot along the way. And by the end of the ride, your Jungle Cruise skipper will likely tell you to get out.

I’m sorry, that was rude – they’ll say, “please, get out.”

Skip If: You really don’t like corny dad-jokes (honestly, it’s hard to find a reason not to ride this ride!)

Access: Disney Genie+

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-RideVideo:via YouTube

Tip: Jungle Cruise’s re-rideability factor is off the charts. Each ride has you tour with a different skipper each time, which leads to different jokes (or the same jokes told with different emphasis) and different energies. You’ll never get the same experience twice! And in recent years during the Holiday Season, Jungle Cruise turns into a festive-themed “Jingle Cruise.”

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (8)

Another absolute classic Disney attraction, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room is a swinging South Seas musical extravaganza.

Once the show starts, you’ll be transported to a tropical paradise full of tropical birds, Tiki gods, and colorful flowers that come to life. Everyone in your party can enjoy this musical attraction, full of over 225 choreographed audio-animatronics.

You’re bound to have yet another catchy tune stuck in your head after experiencing Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room!

Skip If: Again, it’s hard to find a reason not to experience this attraction at least once!

Access: None (other than standby queue)

Height Requirements: Any Height

Tip: Since this attraction is designed as a “theater-in-the-round,” you’ll get a great view of the show no matter where you sit!

The Swiss Family Treehouse

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (9)

The Swiss Family Treehouse is theultimate treehouse inspired by the classic film, Swiss Family Robinson.

On this attraction, you get to walk up the 116 steps to tour the island home of the Swiss Family Robinson built after they were shipwrecked on a deserted island. Make sure to explore all the details hidden in the rooms of these famous adventurers!

The best part: at the top of the treehouse, you’ll get gorgeous views of Adventureland and the rest of Magic Kingdom.

Skip If: You’re uncomfortable with heights or have mobility issues

Access: None (other than standby queue)

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip: There’s rarely a wait to visit the Swiss Family Treehouse. We recommend making a visit as the sun is setting. This gives you even more beautiful views of Adventureland and the rest of Magic Kingdom.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (10)

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is another attraction that gives wonderful views of Magic Kingdom.

On this ride, you’ll climb aboard a colorful, 4-passenger flying “rug” and take off into the air. Much like Dumbo the Flying Elephant in Fantasyland, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin lets you soar ‘round and ‘round as you get to control how high your carpet goes.

Complete with Middle Eastern music, this ride is great for the kiddos.

Skip If: You’re uncomfortable with heights

Access: Disney Genie+

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip: Especially useful on Summer Florida days, the Liki Tiki statues next to The Magic Carpets of Aladdin spray cool mist for you to escape the heat. If you’re looking for a water surprise, step in front of the golden camel, who spits out water when you least expect it!

Rides at Liberty Square

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (11)

Liberty Square is an incredible recreation of America during the decades around the American Revolution.

Guests walking through Liberty Square will feel like they stepped into a colonial American town, but with a twist – as each building represents a different decade around the time of the American Revolution.

There are a number of Magic Kingdom rides and attractions here at Liberty Square for you and your party to enjoy.

The Liberty Square Riverboat

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (12)

A steam-powered paddler wheeler, the Liberty Square Riverboat takes you on a tour of the Rivers of America.

With 2 levels to take in the sights of Liberty Square, you’ll also get great views of Tom Sawyer Island and Fort Langhorn, passing settler cabins, old mining paraphernalia, an Indian Village, and a small group of animatronic wildlife along the way.

Staying true to their attention to detail, Disney designed this 47-foot tall riverboat as a reproduction of the historic vessels that ferried guests up and down the Mississippi.

Skip If:You’re short on time during your visit and want to prioritize other rides and attractions

Access:None (other than standby queue)

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip: The Liberty Square Riverboat is one of the best attractions to get away from the hustle and bustle of Magic Kingdom.

Haunted Mansion

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (13)

Yet another classic and fan-favorite Magic Kingdom ride, Haunted Mansion takes you on a journey through a labyrinth of haunted chambers.

After boarding your gloomy Doom Buggy, you’ll tour a mansion full of 999 unearthly specters, including your Ghost Host, Madame Leota, the Portrait Chamber, the Graveyard, and the famous hitchhiking ghosts. And throughout your journey, you’ll hear yet another popular musical ear worm, “Grim Grinning Ghosts.”

Skip If:You’re uncomfortable with riding a dark ride with several mildly frightening scenes (but it’s important to note that there’s no gore)

Access: Disney Genie+

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip:Although this ride tends to see long wait times, your wait will be worth it with its interactive queue. Try to solve the mystery of who’s the culprit behind a string of mysterious deaths or try your hand on other queue elements by pressing on them!

The Hall of Presidents

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (14)

In the spirit of Walt Disney, The Hall of Presidents takes Disneyland’s Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln to a whole new level.

In this theater-show attraction, you’ll get to marvel at the U.S. Presidents, current and past, along with an original film that tells the dramatic story of the nation’s founding. Experiencing all of the audio-animatronic Presidents alone makes this attraction well worth it.

This 25-minute show runs continuously throughout the day, so don’t worry about having to catch it at a specific moment in time!

Skip If: You’re short on time during your visit and want to prioritize other rides and attractions

Access: None (other than standby queue)

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip: In the middle of the day, this air-conditioned attraction is a perfect way to get away from the Florida heat.

Rides in Frontierland

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (15)

Frontierland allows you to relive the American Old West with these Magic Kingdom rides.

The stockade-style structures and pioneer trappings are just a few of the details in this extremely popular land.

Frontierland has some more classic Magic Kingdom attractions:

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (16)

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad takes you on a speeding mine train through a haunted gold mine.

So the legend goes, soon after gold was discovered here in the 1850s, eerie things began to happen, like trains taking off and racing through tunnels – by themselves. Aboard your mine train, you’ll race through a cursed cavern along a rickety track, dodging exploding dynamite and falling boulders as you make your way through the mysterious ghost town of Tumbleweed.

This really is the wildest ride in the wilderness!

Skip If: You’re prone to motion sickness

Access: Disney Genie+, Rider Switch

Height Requirements: Guests must be at least 40″ (102cm)

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip: Another popular ride with long waits, it will be worth waiting in this interactive queue, full of fun details that keep you and the kiddos entertained.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (17)

Following Walt Disney’s belief, Disney World is always changing, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is proof of that.

Formerly Splash Mountain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will bring you into the world of The Princess and the Frog. Described as Tiana’s “second act,” this ride takes you on a musical adventure through the bayou as Princess Tiana, Naveen, and Louis the jazz-loving alligator host a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration where everyone is welcome.

Along the way, you’ll meet some familiar faces, make new friends, and travel through the bayou through original music inspired by the film!

Skip If: You dislike rides with big drops

Access:Unknown as of now

Height Requirements: Guests must be at least 40″ (102cm)

On-Ride Video: None (yet)

Tip:With plenty of opportunities to get wet, you’ll want to wear a poncho on this ride, that is, unless you’re okay with getting soaked. If that’s the case, at least bring an extra pair of socks!

Country Bear Musical Jamboree

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (18)

Based on a suggestion by Walt Disney himself, the original Country Bear Jamboree had all the makings of an old-fashioned hoe-down.

Now reimagined with reinterpreted songs from Disney movies we all love, Country Bear Jamboree features a fun cast of singing bears, overflowing with humor, heart, and a few surprises.

This 16-minute, foot-stompin’ “cele-bear-tion” will have you and your whole party singing along!

Skip If: You’re short on time during your visit and want to prioritize other rides and attractions

Access:None (other than standby queue)

Height Requirements: Any Height

Tip: In the middle of the day, this air-conditioned attraction is a perfect way to get away from the Florida heat.

Rides at Fantasyland

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (19)

Fantasyland is the place where children of all ages can step right into their own fairytale.

Inspired by a medieval-faire, this carnival-style land features the most amount of rides of any themed land at Magic Kingdom, including many based on classic Disney animated features, including Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Let's go over each ride and attraction in Fantasyland.

“it's a small world”

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (20)

Home to the original ear worm of a song composed by the brilliant Richard and Robert Sherman, “it's a small world” is arguably the most iconic ride at any Disney theme park.

Also known as the “happiest cruise that ever sailed,” “it's a small world” was designed and created as a tribute to the children of the world for the UNICEF pavilion at the 1964/65 World's Fair. This enchanting 10-minute journey takes kids and kids-at-heart on the Seven Seaways Waterway, where you can watch almost 300 traditionally dressed dolls singing the beloved Sherman Brothers song.

By the end of your voyage, Walt Disney's simple message is clear: it truly is a small world after all.

Skip If: You don't want another ear worm stuck in your head for the rest of your vacation

Access: Disney Genie+

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip: Unlike the version of this ride at Disneyland Park in California, “it's a small world” in Magic Kingdom is closer to Walt's original attraction from the 1964/65 World's Fair.

Peter Pan's Flight

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (21)

Peter Pan's Flight is one of the most popular attractions at Magic Kingdom – and for good reason.

A very simple ride by today's technologically advanced standards, Peter Pan's Ride is a fan-favorite among Disney park enthusiasts, sending you on a flying voyage aboard your very own pirate ship. Aboard your ship, you'll fly over Darling's nursery, London, and even straight through a battle between Captain Hook and Peter Pan.

Don't be surprised if you feel like a kid again after riding Peter Pan's Flight!

Skip If: You have a fear of heights

Access: Disney Genie+

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip: Another popular ride that often sees high wait times, Peter Pan's Flight has a wonderful queue with interactive elements and amazing detail. Make sure to explore the queue as you wait to ride!

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (22)

Based on the popular characters imagined by A.A. Milne, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is an outright classic.

On this ride, you'll travel through the Hundred-Acre Wood in an oversized Hunny Pot as you get swept away by a gust of wind, slide into Owl's House, jump up and down with Tigger, and even enter a dream world with singing Heffalumps and Woozles.

This colorful, song-filled storybook-come-to-life is a delightful romp through the scenes and sounds of the classic Disney Film Winnie the Pooh.

Skip If: You have kiddos who might get startled by the mildly bumpy nature of the ride or the loud sounds and bright colors of Heffalumps and Woozles

Access: Disney Genie+

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip: Just outside the ride, make sure that you explore Rabbit's Garden, paint with honey, and visit Eeyore's home!

Mickey's PhilharMagic

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (23)

Mickey's PhilharMagic fully immerses you into the world of your favorite Disney animated films.

In this 12 minute 4D experience, Donald tries to steal the show from Mickey's Orchestra. Instead, we follow the hysterical mischief that Donald gets himself into as we go on a magical trip through many of our favorite Disney films.

From “Be Our Guest” in Beauty and the Beast to “Un Poco Loco” in Coco, Mickey's PhilharMagic is an attraction that's perfect for the entire family.

Skip If:You don't do well with 3D shows

Access: Disney Genie+

Height Requirements: Any Height

Tip:Don't expect long waits for this attraction as Mickey's PhilharMagic runs constantly throughout the day.

Prince Charming Regal Carrousel

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (24)

Just across from Mickey's PhilharMagic is a classic attraction inspired by Disney's animated feature Cinderella.

A traditional carrousel made up of 90 wood-carved ornate horses with golden helmets, decorative shields, and flowing flower garlands and feathers, each horse is unique and a marvel to look at.

This ride is perfect for families looking for a relaxing break from the rest of the theme park.

Skip If: You’re short on time during your visit and want to prioritize other rides and attractions

Access:None (other than standby queue)

Height Requirements: Any Height

Tip:This ride was built in 1917 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Co and has been delighting guests since Magic Kingdom opened in 1971. It's a true treasure of the theme park!

Mad Tea Party

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (25)

Just like the classic attraction at Disneyland Park, Mad Tea Party lets you spin 'round and 'round in a giant teacup during a madcap music-filled whirlwind. This is one of the most iconic Magic Kingdom rides.

Here, you can celebrate your “un-birthday” in Wonderland as you pour yourself into 1 of 18 oversized tea cups. For an even wilder ride, turn the wheel in the middle of your tea cup as fast as you can and hold on!

This classic attraction based on the Disney animated classic Alice in Wonderland, this ride is great for the thrill seeker kiddos.

Skip If: You're prone to motion sickness or dislike spinning rides

Access: Disney Genie+

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip: If you dislike spinning rides but still want to ride Mad Tea Party, you can control your spinning speed by turning your wheel slower or not at all and simply enjoy a gentle turn around the table.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (26)

The most thrilling ride in Fantasyland, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train takes you on a race through the diamond mine from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Although the thrill factor is more moderate than other thrill rides around Disney World, what makes Seven Dwarfs Mine Train special is its swaying coaster cars, giving a little extra excitement to guests. This ride takes you through the Enchanted Forest, up a mountain, down through a mine shaft and past a the cozy cottage where Snow White and the Dwarfs live.

This ride is a must-do when in Fantasyland, but make sure to ride it first thing in the morning since long waits are very common!

Skip If: You're not a big fan of roller coasters

Access: Individual Lightning Lane, Rider Switch

Height Requirements: Guests must be at least 38″ (97cm)

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip:Interactive queue is full of fun for the kiddos, allowing them to do different types of jewel sorting!

Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (27)

This ride is a retelling of the beloved mermaid's tale with scenes from the Disney animated classic.

Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid takes you on a voyage through Ariel's gadget-filled grotto, Sebastian and the dancing fish in the sea, Ursula's eel-infested lair, and Prince Eric's marvelous castle.

Climb aboard your clamshell ride vehicle and truly be part of Ariel's world!

Skip If:You have kiddos that might be scared of the 7.5 ft tall, 12 ft wide Ursula

Access: Disney Genie+

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip:The queue is made famous for its once-a-year appearance by a Hidden Mickey that can only be seen on Mickey and Minnie's birthday (November 18) and is formed by the sun casting a Mickey-shaped shadow on the rocks!

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (28)

Heading over to the Storybook Circus area, the next ride in Fantasyland is Dumbo the Flying Elephant.

Based on the Disney animated feature Dumbo, this classic attraction puts you atop everybody's favorite circus elephant as he discovers he can fly.Much like The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Dumbo the Flying Elephant lifts you off for a graceful cruise around Storybook Circus, giving you great views of Magic Kingdom as you control how high or low you want to soar.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant is a classic ride that all families can enjoy! This is another one of the classic Magic Kingdom rides.

Skip If:You or your kiddos are afraid of heights

Access: Disney Genie+

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip:Make sure to check out the brand-new, interactive search-and-sniff experience in Storybook Circus! Stop by the ticket booth in front of Big Top Souvenirs to pick up an illustrated map of the land along with a sticker sheet to guide you on your hunt.

The Barnstormer

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (29)

The final ride we'll cover in Fantasyland is The Barnstormer.

Get ready for a homemade stunt airplane ride with Goofy – known as The Great Goofini – as he performs his world-famous aerial stunt show. This thrilling junior roller coaster ride takes you to the top of a wooden observation tower, down through the busy barnyard, and soaring again before “landing” safely in the grande finale.

The Barnstormer is great for aspiring pilots of all ages!

Skip If:This ride is a little rough and jerky, especially for adults. If you're especially sensitive to motion sickness, you may want to skip this ride

Access: Disney Genie+, Rider Switch

Height Requirements: Guests must be at least 35″ (89cm)

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip:This could be a great way to introduce the kiddos to roller coasters. The Barnstormer is the slowest roller coaster in all of Disney World, making it a good transitional ride to bigger, faster coasters.

Walt Disney World Railroad

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (30)

How could we leave this trulyclassic attraction out of this ultimate guide to rides at Magic Kingdom?

The Walt Disney World Railroad gives you a 20-minutes, 1.5-mile scenic round-trip tour of the Magic Kingdom on a restored, vintage narrow-gauge steam train. Taking after Walt Disney’s passion for trains, the Walt Disney World Railroad is both convenient as you embark on your magical vacation and nostalgic for the past.

The Walt Disney World Railroad is one of my favorite classic attractions ever.

Skip If: With a classic attraction like this, it’s hard to find a reason not to experience this attraction at least once!

Access:None (other than standby queue)

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip: This isn’t the only place to board the Walt Disney World Railroad. You can also board the train at the following stations:

  • Near the entrance to the park on Main Street, U.S.A.
  • The Frontierland Station

Rides in Tomorrowland

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (31)

Today, Tomorrowland is much different than it was in 1971 when Magic Kingdom opened.

Designed to depict the future as it was described by science fiction writers from the 1920's and 1930's, Tomorrowland is full of imaginative decor and is the “Future That Never Was.”

Let's go over each of the rides and attractions in Tomorrowland.

Space Mountain

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (32)

To this day, Space Mountain remains very popular among Magic Kingdom guests.

However, if you've ridden Space Mountain in Disneyland Park, you'll find that Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom feels very different to ride. That's because it's a tubular steel track roller coaster, the same type of coaster you see on the Matterhorn at Disneyland Park. Regardless, this rocket ship ride blasts you through space with a classic retro-futuristic soundtrack echoing around you.

Space Mountain is a favorite that sees long waits, so ride it early in the day!

Skip If:This ride is a little rough and jerky, especially for adults. If you're especially sensitive to motion sickness, you may want to skip this ride

Access: Disney Genie+, Rider Switch

Height Requirements: Guests must be at least 44″ (112cm)

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip:Despite the ride feeling very fast, your top speed is 28.7mph! The ride feels much faster than this due to its quick turns in a dark enclosed room, giving the feel of going faster than you really are going.

Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (33)

Along with “it's a small world,” Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress debuted in New York at the 1964 World's Fair and still goes strong today.

Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress follows an American family over 4 generations of technological progress as it transforms their lives. Even the theater itself was revolutionary for its time, having the audience move around a central stage for each act. And to cap it all off is another ear worm of a tune by the famous Sherman Brothers!

Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress is one of my all-time favorite attractions and one of the most underrated attractions you shouldn't skip.

Skip If:This ride is a little rough and jerky, especially for adults. If you're especially sensitive to motion sickness, you may want to skip this ride

Access: None (other than standby queue)

Height Requirements: Any Height

Tip:There are a number of Hidden Mickeysin this attraction, with several in the final scene. See if you can spot them!

Astro Orbiter

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (34)

Astro Orbiter gives you the chance to pilot your own rocket ship high in the sky!

Much like Dumbo the Flying Elephant and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Astro Orbiter is perfect for the kiddos to soar high in the sky, giving you great views of Tomorrowland and Magic Kingdom. Since you're the pilot of your own rocket ship, you get to direct how high you fly!

Astro Orbiter is a great ride for guests of all ages.

Skip If:You or your kiddos are afraid of heights

Access:None (other than standby queue)

Height Requirements: Any Height

On-Ride Video: via YouTube

Tip:Compared to Dumbo the Flying Elephant or The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, this ride is much higher due to it being located much higher above ground. Be cautious with this ride especially if you or any of your party members are afraid of heights.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

Magic Kingdom Ride Guide 2024 - Ride Reviews, Bonus Tips (35)

An elevated tram touring Tomorrowland, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is another one of my all-time favorite attractions.

During your narrated tour, you'll get to go behind the scenes of attractions in Tomorrowland and even see an architectural model of Progress City, the prototype for EPCOT. You even get incredible up-close views of Magic Kingdom from a very unique vantage point.

The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is a wonderful ride that everyone should do!

Skip If:You’re short on time during your visit and want to prioritize other rides and attractions

Access:None (other than standby queue)
