Heurich scores his first ace — On March 26, Ocean Ridge resident Roland Heurich scored his first hole-in-one on the 124 yard, par 3 hole No. 11 on the Tiger’s Eye course. He used an 8-iron to accomplish his feat. His playing partners were John Olio, Gordon Wicke and Brian Gaeng.

Doug Spring wins Brick Landing match play event — The 2024 MGA match play tournament final at The Links at Brick Landing was conducted on Saturday, April 6. Doug Spring (shown above with trophy) outlasted Dick Martin for the title. The match play event consisted of single elimination, 24 players and five rounds of competition. Thanks to all that played!

ORMGA Green Sweater Tournament winners — Members of the Ocean Ridge MGA played their annual Green Sweater Tournament on Thursday, April 11. Due to inclement weather, this event was shortened to a one-day scramble with 28 two-man teams participating. Jim Peters, left, and Jerry Hannon were the championship team after posting a net 62.

Mike Spivey is the April Big Dog — On April 12, Ocean Ridge MGA held their monthly Big Dog/Pink Poodle tournament on the Jones coursed at Sea Trail with 52 players participating. After shooting a low net 72, Mike Spivey, right, went home with the Big Dog. Jim Covell, left, took the Pink Poodle home after carding a net 92.

Two eagles by Karen Buchelt — Karen Buchelt of Brunswick Golf Club scored eagles two days in a row! The first eagle was Wednesday, April 17, on Dogwood No. 7 at Brunswick Plantation. She hit a “fantastic drive” on a 360-yard par 5. Her second shot was 75 yards from the hole. Using her putter, Karen putted the ball in the hole for an eagle. The next day, she made an eagle on Magnolia No. 3, a par 4 of 245 yards. Her drive landed in a bunker. From there, she used a 9-wood to hole-out from the bunker!
