The 50 best casual restaurants in Cork (2024)

The seafood restaurant Goldie is known for its fresh fish dishes, and it changes its menu depending on the availability of fresh seafood. The restaurant is located in a bustling part of the city, and it often serves up some of the best salmon, halibut, and oysters in town.

Fabulous, delicious, welcoming; I could go on and on but am just not that eloquent. This place provided us with one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. Such new takes on everything, ingredients put together in such unique and yummy ways. Each complex taste is delicious on its own, and stunning when out all together. But what really steals the show here, and their other 4 restaurants, is the staff. The welcome, the service, the knowledge, and the smiles. Obviously they know how to hire and keep good people. Kelly - thanks for finding us a spot as walk ins, you are a doll with contagious positive energy! Eva-your friendliness, knowledge, joy enhanced our dining experience. It was a pleasure to interact with any of the staff, keep up the great work. You have something quite special here!

Had an amazing meal at Goldies. The service was great, really attentive, friendly, explaining everything. The food was also delicious. I highly recommend visiting if you're in Cork! Reasonably priced as well.

Really enjoyed our dinner at Goldie’s. Everything we tried was delicious, although special mention for the turbot which was perfectly cooked and top notch. The staff was great too, friendly and well-informed about the dishes. Would definitely go back the next time we’re in Cork!

Absolutely superb food and service from start to finish. Even better than last time we were here. Wife is pregnant and the chef had clearly marked out on the menu ahead of time the small few things she couldn't have. It's the small things that make the difference. Great staff and food thank you Team Goldie

Despite an abundance of amazing seafood in Cork, it's difficult to find something that isn't battered, smoked or "chowdered". Thankfully that's not the case here. This is good seafood with invention and flair. We had a late sitting, so there were quite a few items not available on the menu (as it should be for fresh fish). Everything we tried was excellent. The cured cod pastrami was a personal favourite and the "snacks" were excellent. Far superior to anything I've eaten for quite some time. The main course, Haddock (replacing Hake) with peppercorn sauce, was nice but overshadowed by what came before. Desserts were amazing. Hopefully, we'll get an opportunity to come back here in the not too distant future for an early sitting and work our way through the rest of the menu.

Delicious food, warm welcoming and friendly staff with good service. You won’t be disappointed checking it out this place in particular their dishes are super tasty. Among the courses, the main dish was fantastic!👌🏻😋 The dessert was a little bit disappointing but still tasty!

Visited for the second time and food was simply amazing. Had the monkfish with panaeng curry which was delicately executed without sacrificing spice and flavour. Saltfish croquettes were so good I ordered another plate. They don't do co*cktails unfortunately and as I have a sensitivity to wines/beers due to high histamine levels in these category of drinks (my asthma is triggered and I break out in hives), there isn't anything on the menu I was comfortable ordering. However I had ordered a drink that was recommended to me. It didn't do very well with me as I started feeling short of breath very soon (it goes away if i stop, and so i did). The staff member noticed I hadn't really touched my drink and made me another drink that was out of her own accord and on the house. She kept apologizing for the lack of choices but its not her fault I have these sensitivities!! I felt very attended to and looked after.

This gem is your go to in Cork city. If you are looking for creativity, explosion of flavors and passion. Aishling the owner and her team will make sure for your best experience! I truly recommend this restaurant.

Great restaurant. Reasonable prices for what you get. Amazing servers who are very knowledgeable about food being served. Food was presented well and tasted lovely. Each dish had a distinct flavour, I find many restaurants’ foods don’t have and tend to blend together.

A real 5 star experience that made a friend reunion for the first time since Covid really really special. The server was so lovely and really went into detail about the menu with us. Everything we ordered was incredible, so fresh, full of flavour and inventively presented. Great spritz’s and wine pairings too. The vibe of the place is so cool and the music was excellent. Really couldn’t fault the whole experience and we left on a high. Will definitely be back as I want to taste everything else on the menu!

One of the best meals I have ever had the pleasure of eating in Cork. Well worth the money. I highly recommend ordering a bunch of their starter plates - it really was a lot of food and a chance to sample all of the different tastes.

Fantastic food. Got great recommendations from the staff! They had a good selection of white wine and the Elbow Lane beers

Almost perfect. The service was superb, the waiting staff could not have been any more accommodating if they tried. The fish meals were sublime, the only small issue was with the starter which one piece of the Bombay ??? It still tasted OK but was bitter than the other pieces which were exquisite.

I could not recommend this restaurant highly enough. Dare I even say, it was the best dining experience of 2023! Beating some tenured London establishments, so hats off to the team!Being half Taiwanese, I was surprised to see a classic Taiwanese street food dish on the menu which was so well done I actually teared up. Each and every dish was spectacular in its own right and equally delicious. Between two people we ordered; one snack, two starters, two mains and one dessert. Plus two hot drinks at the end. The bill was just shy of €100 - a complete bargain for the attention to detail from the kitchen brigade but also the serving staff. It did not escape my attention that the kitchen brigade was 50/50 men and women, and all but one of the serving staff were women. The synchronised team were a dream to watch (we were sat in front of the cold station at the counters). If you only eat at one restaurant in Cork, this must be it! Well done Aishling Moore and team!

Best restaurant in Cork city. As close to Michelin star dining that cork has to offer. The food is sensational couldn’t fault anything. We were 4 so we tried everything on the menu bar 1 main and a few sides the service was impeccable and the atmosphere was so nice. Already thinking of going back can’t wait 👍

Everything was divine! Highly recommend to order oysters with strawberry vinegar granita, such a fantastic combination! Hurry up as the menu constantly changes every day 😉

Absolutely glorious meal. We really loved the philosophy and the ever changing menu - even during the day to accommodate what was left from the day’s stocks. The sauces with our mains left us looking for something, anything, to mop it up with 😁Service was great, relaxed and informal, in a lovely setting. Plus, great beers!

Casual vibes but the food is immaculate. We really enjoyed trying some different sides with our dishes. Our server was great. Highly recommend if you can manage a reservation.

Very well-deserved bib gourmand! We had a wonderful experience: great food (the turbot in particular was excellent), very knowledgeable service (the waiter spent over 5 min describing each dish in a lot of detail at the beginning: the knowledge, appreciation and passion were obvious and it contributed to a memorable experience — if you're reading this: keep it up and thank you!).Would love to go back.Prices reasonable for the quality and experience / refreshing in these days of crazy inflation where you can easily spend 50 EUR for a mediocre dinner…
